BEHAVIOR TRAJECTORIES IN THE SITUATION OF SOCIAL THREAT

Background. In addition to the military, political, economic, social, environmental, scientific, technical, information constituents of the individual and public security there are some others as well. In this line of categories and concepts social security is significant due to the fact that its measures are aimed directly at the person, the protection of one’s vital interests of life. The purpose of the paper is to analyze and systematize the behaviors of urban residents in a situation of social threat.
Materials and methods. The implementation of research tasks has been achieved on the basis of opinion polls in the cities of Belgorod and Novomoskovsk (Tula region) in a situation of social threat, data analysis and synthesis. When processing sociological data statistical and comparative methods as well as the situational approach and empirical modelling were used.
Results. Urban residents’ attitude to ensuring social security has been studied. The paternalistic, role, subjective, alternative,community-based, uncertain behavior trajectories in a situation of social threat have been registered and described. The conditions and prospects of people’s cooperation with law machinery in the effort to ensure social security have been identified.
Conclusions. The sociological analysis of behavioral set of the population in a situation of social threat confirms the prevalence of three settings: paternalistic, role, and subject ones. Half of the respondents expressed willingness to install a security alarm in their apartments, however, a significant part of them cannot afford it for financial reasons. The majority supported the idea of cooperation with law machinery in the prevention and avoidance of social threats.
